Haka Valkeakoski (officially: Football Club Haka ) is a Finnish football club from Valkeakoski . As a nine-time Finnish champion and twelve-time national cup winner, the club , which currently only plays second-class in the Ykkönen , is one of the most successful teams in the country.
history
The association was founded in 1934 as Valkeakosken Haka . 15 years later, the club rose as champions of the second division in the Mestaruussarja , the top division at the time.
When the Finnish Cup was played for the first time in 1955, the club won the first title in the club's history with a 5-1 final win over Helsingin Palloseura . The 1960s were the most successful era in the club's history. In 1960, Haka was the first club in Finnish football history to win a double from the championship and the cup, which was also the club's first championship. Two more championship titles and cup victories were won in this decade.
In 1972 the club went into the second tier, but rose again straight away. It took until 1977 for the next title: Haka won the double for the second time. In the 1980s get three cup wins, as a result of which Haka encountered Juventus Turin in the 1983/84 season after successes against Sligo Rovers and Hammarby IF in the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup . That was where Haka ended up with two 0-1 defeats. It wasn't until 1995 that they became Finnish champions again. However, the club rose in the season after in the second division. With the newly signed coach Keith Armstrong they rose again and Haka was Finnish champion three times in a row. Under Armstrong's successor Olli Huttunen , the club won the championship and twice the cup in 2004. In 2012 Haka finished twelfth and last place in the championship and again relegated to the Ykkönen .
