Marko Kassl

Marko Kassl (* 1976 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian classical accordionist .

Career

He received his first accordion lessons at the Slovenian Music School in Carinthia with Majda Golob. He began his music studies in 1994 with the subject of instrumental pedagogy at the Carinthian State Conservatory with Mika Väyrynen . He continued this course until 1998. In 1999 he continued his education with James Crabb at the Music University Graz . He then moved to the Hochschule für Musik Detmold , Dortmund department, to Mie Miki-Schenk , where he studied the accordion from 2000 to 2002 and continued his studies with Miki-Schenk at the Folkwang University until 2006 . He completed his studies there with the concert exam. Kassl completed master classes with Matti Rantanen , Margit Kern , Peter Gerter , Vladimir Dolgopolov and Friedrich Lips . Since 2007 Kassl has been a lecturer for accordion at the Detmold University of Music.

Concert activity

Kassl performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. a. invited to the Ankara Festival , the Mersin Music Festival , the Donaueschinger Musiktage , the Dubrovnik Music Festival and the Ljubljana Festival . Also participated in various radio recordings.

He was involved in world premieres of works by numerous contemporary composers, such as Stefan Heucke , Wilfried Maria Danner , Sinta Wullur , Ivo Petric , Bruno Strobl , Chiel Meijering , Philemon Mukarno , Felipe Waller , Hanna Eimermacher and Andreas Kunstein .

Awards

  • In 2004 Kassl received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association .
  • In 2002 he was awarded the GWK Music Prize.
  • In 1998 he won 1st prize at the Austrian Accordion Competition
  • In 1990 he won 3rd prize at the “ProLoco” competition in Camalo / Italy
