He made his Bundesliga debut the following season on October 22, 1994 (10th matchday) in the 4-0 defeat in the away game against VfB Stuttgart with a substitution in the 49th minute for Gunther Metz . He scored his only Bundesliga goal on November 25, 1995 (15th matchday) in a 4-0 win at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach with the goal to make it 1-0 in the 3rd minute.

Since he was unable to assert himself as a regular player in five seasons at Karlsruher SC, he moved to the second division club 1. FC Köln in 1998 . In two seasons in which he played 26 league games and scored one goal, he did not get beyond the status of substitute player.
