Markus Graf (* 1953 in Zurich ) is a Swiss actor .

Life

Graf completed an acting training at the Zurich Acting Academy from 1978 to 1981 , from which he graduated with an acting diploma. Since the early 1980s he has worked as a theater actor , with various permanent and guest engagements, at various theaters in Germany and Switzerland.

He had permanent engagements at the Stadttheater Basel (1982–1983), at the Stadttheater Konstanz (1983–1993; there, among others, as Danton in Danton's death ) and at the State Theater in Hanover (1993–2000). There he appeared in Die Räuber (directed by Armin Petras ) and, under the direction of Andreas Kriegenburg , in the world premieres of the plays Fremdes Haus (1995) and Adams Geist (1998) by Dea Loher .

From 2000 to 2009 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Hamburg Thalia Theater , where he was often seen in productions by Michael Thalheimer . In his theater works he played the role of Liliom's friend Fiscur in Liliom (2000), Hofmarschall von Kalb in Kabale und Liebe , Schigolch in Lulu (2004-2007), the judge in Mr. Puntila and his servant Matti (2006 / 2007) and the ghost of Hamlet's father in Hamlet (2008). In 2009 he was the soldier in Arthur Schnitzler's play Der Reigen under Thalheimer's direction .

Graf has been part of the ensemble of the German Theater in Berlin since the 2009/10 season . There he played the roles of Ausrufer / Karl in Woyzeck (2009, director: Jette Steckel ), again the judge in Mr Puntila and his servant Matti (2009, takeover of the Thalia Theater), Werbel in Die Nibelungen (2010, director: Michael Thalheimer ), Yegor in Children of the Sun by Maxim Gorki (2010, director: Stephan Kimmig ) and the Weber Heiber in Die Weber (2011, director: Michael Thalheimer).

Graf also took on roles in film and television. In the cinema he was seen in the Swiss youth film Breakout . In 2008, he starred in the German television film Ein Job , alongside Vanessa Redgrave . He had episode roles in the television series Großstadtrevier (2007), Doppelter Einsatz (2007), Notruf Hafenkante (2009) and Mord mit Aussicht (2010). In 2010/11 he had a recurring series role in the ARD series Rote Rosen ; he played Nikos Saravakos, the stubborn patriarch of a Greek family and the father of the character Carla. He had other guest appearances in his role in 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2019.

In the Swiss Tatort: ​​Zwei Leben (first broadcast: September 2017) count was the builder Jakob “Jacki” Conti, who allegedly died in the tsunami in Thailand . In March 2018 Graf was seen in the ARD series In All Friendship - The Young Doctors in a leading role in the episode, as the gardener René Schmidt, who tries to drive moles away from the clinic and contracted smoke inhalation.
