Markus Hofmann (memory trainer)

Markus Hofmann (born February 5, 1975 in Nabburg ) is a German memory trainer and keynote speaker. As an author, he has written non-fiction books, essays and audio training CDs on the subject of memory training and the brain.

life and work

Markus Hofmann completed an apprenticeship as a banker and then worked as a consultant for press and public relations at the Sparkasse in the Schwandorf district , then in the field of advertising and communication at the Sparkassenverband Bayern . He completed an apprenticeship at the Bavarian Academy for Advertising and Marketing, which he completed in 2002 as a marketing graduate (BAW). Shortly afterwards he completed an apprenticeship as a MAT trainer ( Mental Activation Training according to Siegfried Lehrl ) at the Society for Brain Training and a one-year part-time further education as a European Business Trainer at the Köppel Academy in Munich.

Memory trainer

Hofmann's training is based on a form of mnemonics developed elsewhere based on the widespread loci method and the number-symbol technique . These are based on images, imagination and creativity. Hofmann claims to combine old techniques with current knowledge about the brain and memory. In addition to positive motivation, certain learning cycles are crucial in order to move what has been learned from short-term memory to long-term memory.

Markus Hofmann uses methods of brain jogging , which u. a. Train the ability to form words, logical thinking, visual and mathematical imagination and concentration as well as increase memory potential. He has also developed brain jogging tasks himself.

Hofmann appeared in 2005 on the ZDF television show Wetten, dass ..? as a memory trainer for a candidate who had wagered to recognize 100 Scottish clans by the pattern of their kilts .

Keynote speaker

Markus Hofmann also works as a keynote speaker. He held seminars and lectures at the University of St. Gallen and at the ZfU International Business School in Thalwil , Switzerland. Since 2010 he has been director of the Steinbeis Transfer Institute “Professional Speaker GSA”. Markus Hofmann was awarded the German Further Education Award in 2014. In 2017 the further education magazine "TRAiNiNG" selected Hofmann as TOP speaker of the year 2017.
