Edita Abdieski (born November 14, 1984 in Bern ), also known as Edita Shain , is a Swiss singer . In November 2010 she won the German version of the music casting show X Factor .

biography

Edita Abdieski grew up in the Bümpliz district of Bern . Her parents come from Macedonia and Montenegro . The father died in 1992. She lives and works in Cologne .

At the age of eleven, Abdieski founded her first band, the neighbor friends , with children from the neighborhood and has been writing songs since she was 13. She won two singing competitions in Switzerland and an associated training at the Swiss Musical Academy in Bern.

In 2006 Edita Abdieski was under contract with Vanessa Tancredi under the band name Vanessa Edita at the Zurich label Muve Recordings . There the single Wenn Ig Nume Wüsst appeared with the B-side Ig Bi So Guet . In the same year Abdieski played the lead role as Kimberly in the musical Dance Me! The Streetdance Musical , and an album of the same name was released under the label Different Swing Entertainment. Also in the same year she sang under the name Edita Shain with Grand Mother's Funck .

Abdieski is the singer of the GrooveClubBand, a German funk and soul association.

In June 2011 she went on a club tour in four German and two Swiss cities. There she presented songs from her album One as well as the self-written songs Done with You and Really Love Me . Although Sony wanted to record another album with Abdieski, they switched to a smaller label in 2012. She had appearances, including at the "Session Possible" by Wolf Codera .

In 2017 Edita Abdieski released the album On & On - her comeback album after a brain hemorrhage .

X factor

From August to November 2010 Edita Abdieski was seen in the first season of the German casting show X Factor on the private broadcaster VOX . With juror Till Brönner as mentor, she competed in the solo singers category from the age of 25. She won the final on November 9, 2010 and received a recording deal with Sony BMG . Their first single I've Come to Life , which was written and produced by Florian Jakob, Chris Buseck and Raphaël Schillebeeckx, was released on November 12, 2010. The single features a cover of the gossip song Heavy Cross .
