Markus & Markus is a performance group founded in Hildesheim in 2011 .

history

The group, consisting of Lara-Joy Bues (* 1989 in Hanover ), Katarina Eckold (* 1976 in Berlin ), Markus Schäfer (* 1983 in Reutlingen ) and Markus Wenzel (* 1988 in Leipzig ) was founded at the University of Hildesheim , where all four studied scenic arts or cultural studies. In 2011 the first work Polis3000: Autonomia at the Theaterhaus Hildesheim was created . The group was awarded the piece at the Hildesheim Capitalism Shredder Festival and invited to the Festival Theaterszene Europa . Polis3000 followed in 2012 : Respondemus , which they were able to develop as part of the Stückemarkt at the Berlin Theatertreffen and in 2013 Polis3000: Oratorio , which was created at the Freischwimmer Festival and for the "Best OFF 2013 - Festival Free Theater of the Lower Saxony Foundation " and the international ARENA festival of the young Arts was invited. In 2014 Markus & Markus were involved in Matthias Lilienthal's project X-Firmen at Theater der Welt .

An Ibsen trilogy was created between 2013 and 2015 : Her works John Gabriel Borkmann , Gespenster and Peer Gynt are loosely based on Henrik Ibsen's plays of the same name: “Ibsen broke taboos. He looked into the living room. He developed dramas from real situations. If Ibsen has managed to use the biography of an individual as an inspiration for a drama, it must also be possible to reverse this principle: Then the protagonists of these plays would have to live somewhere. ”In 2015, Gespenster became, among other things, the impulse - and that Spielart Festival invited.
