Zoecke became a professional tennis player in 1989 and in the same year won the single title at the Challenger tournament in Rümikon and the double title alongside Libor Pimek . In the following year he won the Challenger tournament in Munich with Jens Wöhrmann , where he was eliminated in the semi-finals. In 1991 he won the Taipei Challenger Tournament . In the following years he also took part in several semifinals on the ATP World Tour . In 1994 he won his only ATP title in Sun City, South Africa . In the following year he won his only double title on the ATP World Tour alongside Jörn Renzenbrink . He achieved his highest placements in the world rankings in 1992 with position 48 in singles and in 1996 with position 233 in doubles.
In 1992 he was appointed to the German Davis Cup team by team captain Nikola Pilić . He played his first game as a replacement for the injured Boris Becker in February 1992 in the first round match against Brazil . His five-set defeat in a marathon match over 5 hours and 20 minutes against Jaime Oncins meant the departure of the German team. Two more times, Zoecke came as a substitute for Becker: in September 1992 he defeated the Belgian Bart Wuyts clearly in two sets in the relegation round , in February 1995 he lost the meaningless match against Goran Ivanišević in the first round encounter against Croatia .
Since his retirement from competitive sports, Zoecke has been running his own training center in Rottach-Egern . He also comments on tennis broadcasts for the television station Eurosport . Since 2011 he has been the sports director of the tennis school and since 2013 also sports director of the LTTC Rot-Weiß Berlin .
