Marlehn Thieme , b. Dohse, (born March 29, 1957 in Lübeck ) is a German law and social scientist . She is the chair of the Council for Sustainable Development and the ZDF TV Council .

Career

Between 1964 and 1967, Thieme attended the elementary school at the Stadtpark in Lübeck and from 1967 to 1976 the Katharineum in Lübeck , which she completed with a high school diploma. From 1976 to 1982 she studied law and social sciences at the Universities of Freiburg and Bonn . She spent her legal clerkship at the Hamburg Higher Regional Court . Finally, in 1986, she passed the second state examination in law.

From 1986 onwards, she completed a trainee training at Deutsche Bank and then worked as a project employee and manager in the central human resources department of the bank in Frankfurt. From 1995 to 2001 she was the managing director of the Deutsche Bank Foundation Alfred Herrhausen "Help for Self-Help". In 2001 she moved to the Private Banking department as Head of Marketing, Estate and Foundation Management, and in 2003 as Deputy Head of Marketing and Communication in the Private Wealth Management department. From 2005 to 2013 she was responsible for corporate social responsibility in the group and is a member of the company's supervisory board. In 2015 she became chairwoman of the supervisory board of the Bank for Church and Diakonie eG - KD-Bank .

voluntary work

In addition to her professional sphere of activity, Thieme stands out by taking on voluntary activities. She has been a member of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) since 2003 and, as its representative, has been a member of the ZDF television council since July 9, 2004 , of which she has been chairman since July 8, 2016. From 2005 to 2020 she was a member of the Council for Sustainable Development , which she chaired from 2015 to 2020. Since 2007 she has been advising the German government on the further development of its sustainability strategies. She is also a member of the board of the working group of Protestant entrepreneurs . On November 22, 2018, Thieme was elected President of Welthungerhilfe .

Criticism of smoking scenes

As chairman of the ZDF television council, Marlehn Thieme took part in the increased public criticism of smoking scenes in film and TV programs at the beginning of 2018 and thus supported the appeal of the drug advisor to the federal government, Marlene Mortler . In an interview, Thieme emphasized: “It has always been a concern of the television council that the consumption of addictive substances in the ZDF programs should never be exemplary or encourage imitation.
