The Maronne is a river in France that runs through the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions. It rises in the Monts du Cantal , on the northern flank of the Roc des Ombres , in the municipality of Saint-Paul-de-Salers . It flows in the upper reaches through the Regional Nature Park Volcans d'Auvergne , is then dammed several times and generally drains west to south-west. The Maronne flows into the Dordogne as a left tributary after 93 kilometers south of Argentat . On her way she crosses the Cantal and Corrèze departments .
