The Marpe is a 9.1 km long right tributary of the Salwey in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis , Germany .

geography

The Marpe rises southwest of Obermarpe at an altitude of 497  m above sea level. NHN . From here it flows mainly in northeastern directions. It flows through the villages of Obermarpe, Niedermarpe and Kückelheim around Sieperting at 317  m above sea level. NHN flows into the Salwey on the right. The stream flows entirely in the area of ​​the community Eslohe (Sauerland) .

On its 9.1 km long path, it overcomes a height difference of 180 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 19.8 ‰. The Marpe drains 15.720 km² via Salwey, Wenne , Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .

Part of the stream is located in the Marpebach nature reserve between Sieperting and Kückelheim .

Tributaries

Some, sometimes very short tributaries flow to the Marpe from the slopes of the surrounding heights. The 4.2 km long Dormecke is the most important tributary.
