Sven Martin Boquist (born February 2, 1977 in Göteborg - Backa ) is a former Swedish handball player and today's coach. As a player, he could be used in many ways in the backcourt ; but mostly he played in the left backcourt. He is currently the assistant coach of VästeråsIrsta HF and the Swedish national team .
society
Martin Boquist began playing handball in his hometown at HP Warta, where he also made his debut in the Swedish first division. In 1998 he moved to Redbergslids IK . There he won the Swedish championship in 2000, 2001 and 2003 and was in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2003 ; he was also the top scorer in the Swedish league in 2003 and player of the year. With these recommendations, he joined the German top club THW Kiel in 2003 , where he won the German championship in 2005 and the EHF Cup in 2004. Due to the strong competition - also through the engagement of Nikola Karabatić - he moved on to FCK Håndbold in Copenhagen in 2005 , with whom he won the Danish championship in 2008 and the Danish cup in 2010. In 2010 Boquist moved to the Swedish club IVH Västerås , where he held the position of player-coach. At the same time he worked there in the marketing department.
In the summer of 2015 he took over the coaching position at the Stockholm club Ricoh HK . In November 2017 he gave up his coaching position at Ricoh HK. He has been the assistant coach of the Swedish national team since October 2016 . Since the 2019/20 season he has also been an assistant coach at VästeråsIrsta HF .
National team
Martin Boquist has made 219 international appearances for the Swedish national team. With Sweden he was world champion in 1999 and vice world champion in 2001 . In 1998 , 2000 and 2002 he was European champion; at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he won silver . For the 2007 World Cup in Germany, however, he could not qualify with Sweden.
