Martin Bremer (born March 19, 1970 in Dortmund ) is a former German long-distance runner .

Life

In 1992 he was third in the German championships in the 10,000 meter run and in 1994 third in the national cross country championships. On October 2, 1994, after the Murtenlauf, the hormone testosterone was detected in him. He was then given a four-year ban for doping , which was later reduced to two years.

Shortly after the suspension expired, Bremer ventured out on the marathon route for the first time . He soon took the lead at the Frankfurt Marathon in 1996 and had a lead of over a minute. Shortly before the goal, however, he began to stumble, completely exhausted. With the last of his strength, he reached the timing mat in 2:13:38 h, on which he collapsed without breaking the target tape - just four seconds ahead of second-placed Japanese Ryuji Takei .

The 1.73 m tall and 57 kg heavy athlete started for the LG Bayer Leverkusen , after his suspension for the LG Bonn / Troisdorf and the Korschenbroicher SC. Since 2015 he has been the project manager of the “Biathlon auf Schalke” tour.
