Martin Costa (born October 12, 1895 in Vienna ; † January 17, 1974 there ; actually Martin Kostia ) was an Austrian actor and writer .

Life

Martin Costa, son of Karl Costa , attended the Piaristengymnasium up to the Matura (Abitur) and then studied at the Academy for Music and Performing Arts . He later switched to the Max Reinhardt Seminar . When the First World War began, Costa dropped out of his studies, but was nevertheless confirmed that he was “ready for the stage profession”.

As an actor he made his debut at the Oldenburg State Theater in 1921 and stayed there until 1923. He then moved to the City Theater in Breslau until 1925 . During the 1929/30 season, Costa was a member of the ensemble in Dresden and was then put under contract in Frankfurt am Main until 1938 . From 1939 to 1941 he played at the German State Theater in Prague , and from 1942 to 1945 Costa was a member of the Wiener Kammerspiele .

From 1953 Costa was engaged for a long time at the Theater in der Josefstadt . Martin Costa died on January 17, 1974 at the age of 78 in Vienna and was buried there in the urn grove of the Simmering fire hall (Department 5, Group 8, Number 122).
