Martin Fengel

Martin Fengel (born September 1964 in Munich ) is a German photographer and artist. Among other things, he is a lecturer for photography and graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich .

Life

Fengel lives and works in his hometown, where he attended the Bavarian State School for Photography from 1985 to 1987 . He then lived in New York until 1991 and worked as an assistant to Amy Arbus and Mary Ellen Mark , among others .

In addition to regular illustrations and photographs for established journals and magazines, for example for ZEITmagazin and Vice , numerous national and international exhibitions and exhibition participation took place. Fengel's works can be found in the collections of the Munich Pinakothek der Moderne , the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus , the DEKA-Bank , the Munich Photo Museum , the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt am Main and Munich Re .

Fengel also works as a filmmaker and shoots videos for DJ Hell . Together with Jörg Koopmann , he runs the “glossy” photo forum in Munich. In 2000 he was a co-founder of the Herburg Weiland agency.

In 2010 he designed the back rail walls of the Munich subway station Moosach . Large-format images of various plants and animals are attached to the white panels. Fengel photographed the motifs in the Moosach district. In October 2012, Bayerischer Rundfunk broadcast the 45-minute report A day in the life of Martin Fengel by Armin Kratzert in the LIDO series .
