Martin Gründler (music teacher)
Martin Gründler (born December 4, 1918 in Oberroßbach ; † October 20, 2004 ) was a German singing teacher and university teacher.
Life
Gründler studied church music and singing and worked as a concert singer from 1941, performing in Germany and abroad, including in the United States. In 1953 he married Charlott-Luise Dettmar. The marriage had four children.
From 1957 he was a professor of opera singing at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts . His students included the singers Aldo Baldin , Christian Brüggemann , Christian Elsner , Christof Fischesser , Carl-Christof Gebhardt , Manfred Hofmann , Johannes M. Kösters , Johannes Martin Kränzle , Friedemann Kunder , Werner Volker Meyer , Jo Pohlheim , Christoph Prégardien , Peter Schüler , Daniel Sans , Wolfgang Schmidt , Ernst Gerold Schramm , Robert Schunk , Ralf Simon , Alexander Spemann and James Tolksdorf . The choir directors Mathias Breitschaft and Ronald Pelger were also among his students.
Gründler was awarded honorary senator status at his university in 2003.
