Martin Hlinka (born September 25, 1976 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player who has played for the Kassel Huskies and Hannover Scorpions in the German Ice Hockey League during his active career .
Career
Hlinka started his career in 1995 in the Augsburg College team , for which he was on the ice in the game operations of the US college league NCAA . There the winger performed well and was one of the attackers with the highest points in the team. In his second season at college, hlinka scored 40 scorer points in 24 games . The left shooter then finished his studies and signed a contract with the Quad City Mallards from the United Hockey League in the summer of 1999 , in whose service he was appointed to the UHL All-Rookie Team as one of the best newcomers at the end of the 1999/00 season.
During the 2000/01 season, the Slovak got the chance to prove himself in the American Hockey League with the Portland Pirates , the farm team of the Washington Capitals at the time. Hlinka took the chance and from then on belonged to the regular Pirates squad and completed 110 missions in two years, in which he was able to achieve 55 points scorer. The then 26-year-old had to miss the 2002/03 season completely due to a serious injury.
After healing, Martin Hlinka went on the ice for the Hershey Bears , but after he finally figured out hardly any chances of a permanent engagement in the NHL , the striker signed a contract with the Kassel Huskies from the German ice hockey season for the 2005/06 season League . Hlinka made the breakthrough in Northern Hesse and he was a member of the regular squad, but the Slovak could not prevent the sporting descent of the huskies and then left the club after only one year.
Martin Hlinka then joined the Hanover Scorpions , with whom he became German champions in the 2009/10 season . He ended his career in the 2013/14 season with the St. Charles Chill in the Central Hockey League .
