Martin Kramer (theologian)

Martin Kramer (born February 16, 1933 in Berlin-Mahlsdorf ) is a German Protestant theologian , student pastor and consistorial president .

Live and act

Kramer spent his childhood in Berlin-Mahlsdorf. When the Berlin area was already affected by the air raids by the western bomber fleets, the family was evacuated to Wernigerode in the Harz region. Here he completed an apprenticeship as a businessman after finishing school . When he had obtained his university entrance qualification , Kramer began studying Protestant theology at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg from 1952 . Then he was sent to his service as vicar in the Laurentius parish of Halle . After he was ordained a pastor , he worked as a student pastor in Magdeburg from 1962 . For a short time from 1962 to 1963 he was also the personal advisor to Regional Bishop Johannes Jänicke . From 1964 to 1974 Kramer was pastor at the Sankt-Gertraud-Kirche in the Magdeburg district of Salbke , but also remained a part-time student pastor until 1970. Pastor Günter Lemke was his successor in Salbke and Kramer took over the pastoral office at the Magdeburg Pauluskirche in Stadtfeld Ost . In 1980 he was appointed consistorial president until he left this office in 1990. Ultimately, in 1990 he took over the pastor's position at the Sankt Gertrauden Church .

As a Protestant theologian, he also performed voluntary work in his church as a synodal member of the ecclesiastical province of Saxony from 1964 to 1990. From 1971 to 1980 he was vice-president of the synod. During this time he was also active in the Christian Peace Conference (CFK), at whose 2nd All-Christian Peace Assembly he took part in 1964 in Prague.

After he retired in 1995, he took on voluntary work and a. true as a regional historian and in the Cathedral Building Association of Magdeburg. From 1995 to 2004 he was chairman of the board of the Evangelical Media Association in the ecclesiastical province of Saxony and in the Landeskirche Anhalts e. V. He was a member of the Magdeburg city council for the FDP and is still a member of the district board of the Magdeburg Liberals.
