Martin Neumeyer (born November 4, 1954 in Abensberg ) is a German politician ( CSU ). He's since November 1, 2016 District Administrator of the district Kelheim .

Private life

After attending primary school in Abensberg, Neumeyer attended the Goethe-Gymnasium in Regensburg , where he graduated from high school in 1975. He then studied business administration at the University of Regensburg and the University of Applied Sciences in Regensburg . He also completed an apprenticeship as a chef and earned a master's certificate as a restaurant master. Until 2004 he ran a small restaurant with a deli in his hometown Abensberg.

Neumeyer is married and has two sons. He still lives in Abensberg. Neumeyer is a member of the Catholic student association KSStV Alemannia Munich .

Political career

Neumeyer joined the CSU in 1972 and the Junge Union in 1975 . At the latter, he subsequently became local and district chairman as well as a member of the district executive committee. He has been CSU district chairman since 1999.

In 1984 he was elected to the city council of Abensberg, of which he was a member until his election as district administrator of the Kelheim district in 2016. He was also cultural advisor for the city of Abensberg. In 1984 he was also elected to the district council of the Kelheim district; In 1996 he became vice chairman of the parliamentary group there. From 1998 to 2003 he was a member of the District tags of Lower Bavaria .

Since October 6, 2003, Neumeyer was a direct candidate for his constituency in Kelheim in the Bavarian state parliament . In the state election in 2008 and the state election in 2013 , he was re-elected each. Opposing candidates were u. a. Johanna Werner-Muggendorfer (SPD) and Andreas Fischer (FDP).

In the 15th legislative period, Neumeyer was a member of the committees for constitutional, legal and parliamentary issues, for universities, research and culture as well as in the data protection commission. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Committee for Agriculture, Food and Forestry , as well as the Committee for Environment and Health . At the beginning of 2009 he was appointed the Bavarian State Government's first integration officer.

On May 5, 2014 Neumeyer was elected deputy district administrator of the Kelheim district. On September 18, 2016, he ran for the office of District Administrator for the third time and was elected in the first ballot with 51.3% of the votes to succeed Hubert Faltermeier , who was no longer running for reasons of age. Neumeyer took office on November 1, 2016. At the same time Florian Hölzl moved up for him in the state parliament. He was confirmed in office in the 2020 local elections.

Awards

On February 1, 2019, he was awarded the Bavarian Constitutional Medal in silver.
