Martin Rassau (born January 3, 1967 in Fürth ) is a German cabaret artist and comedian and theater entrepreneur.

Life

In 1990 Rassau met Volker Heissmann on stage for the first time . Just one year later they founded their own small stage in Nuremberg. Their collaboration was so successful that after a short time they were able to open the Kleine Komödie Fürth at another location with 280 seats. This was also thanks to their stage program, in which they worked together as a funny couple. From 1996 they had a regular place on local radio as a comedy act as Die Kaltengrubers . In 1997 they became the widow couple Waltraud and Mariechen during the Franconian Carnival and have since been an integral part of the program Fastnacht in Franconia in Veitshöchheim in Lower Franconia .

The root of the success is a predominantly coarse humor in Franconian Regiolekt , often closer to popular theater than to cabaret, and a largely fixed role distribution, which Rassau uses as an arrogant know-it-all and hot man as a stupid, often cross-eyed naive.

In 1998, Rassau and Heissmann were able to make a personal dream come true and in their home town of Fürth founded a larger theater with event gastronomy, the Comödie Fürth, from the dilapidated but historically significant Berolzheimerianum . In a very short time this theater developed into a focal point for well-known artists from all over Germany, mostly from the genre of the boulevard theater. In September 2019 was the premiere of "The Merry Widow", which was brought to the stage of the Comedy Fürth as a jazz operetta with Heissmann and Rassau and the musician Thilo Wolf.

In 2000 they dared to make the leap to the screen. With the self-produced and -distributed 6 auf See , an episodic comedy film, they were able to achieve notable successes both in regional cinemas and later on Bavarian television . In the years to come, they continued to grow in popularity through appearances , presentations and events on radio and television. In the meantime, Martin Rassau and Volker Heissmann are also making themselves known beyond the Bavarian region, from 2006 to 2015 as an integral part of the Musikantenstadl with Andy Borg .

In March 2017, Martin Rassau and Volker Heißmann were honored with a special prize at the first Bavarian Dialect Prize. In June 2018 he received the Bavarian Order of Merit . Also in 2018, the Bavarian Cultural Heritage Initiative together with Volker Heissmann named him Bavarian Cultural Heritage Ambassador.
