Martin Sailer (politician, 1970)

Martin Sailer (* 22. April 1970 in Munich ) is a German politician ( CSU ), former Member of the Bavarian Parliament and, since 1 May 2008, district administrator of the district of Augsburg . On November 8, 2018, Sailer also took over the office of District President of the Swabian District .

education and profession

Sailer attended high school near St. Stephan in Augsburg and, after graduating from high school, completed his military service with Army Music Corps 10 in Ulm . He then studied business administration from 1991 to 1997 at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and graduated with a degree in business administration.

Sailer then worked as a manager in various companies, including being a founding member of carrier 24 GmbH in 1999 and serving as its sales manager until 2002. From 2002 to 2008 he was the owner and managing director of ms-consult Unternehmensberatung. Sailer is Roman Catholic, married and has three children.

politics

Sailer has been a member of the CSU since 1987 and was a member of the Junge Union from 1989 to 2005 . During this time he was local chairman of the Junge Union Diedorf from 1995 to 2001 , from 1996 to 2001 district chairman of the Junge Union Augsburg-Land and from 2001 to 2005 district chairman of the Junge Union Schwaben. In addition, Sailer was deputy district chairman of the CSU Augsburg-Land from 1997 to 2005, before becoming district chairman himself in 2005. In 2015, he handed over this office to the then State Secretary Carolina Trautner .

Sailer left the state parliament in 2008 to become district administrator of the Augsburg district as successor to Karl Vogele from May 1st . In the Bavarian municipal elections in 2014 , Sailer was re-elected as district administrator with 62.1 percent of the vote. On November 8, 2018, Martin Sailer was elected President of the District Assembly by the Swabian District Assembly, to which he has been a member since 2013. Sailer succeeded Jürgen Reichert, who had been President of the District Assembly for many years, and who had no longer run for office. In the Bavarian local elections in 2020, Martin Sailer was re-confirmed as District Administrator for the Augsburg district with 55 percent of the vote.
