Martin Walker (* 1947 in Scotland ) is a Scottish historian, political journalist and writer. He lives with his family in Le Bugue in southern France ( Périgord ).

Life

Walker studied at Balliol College of Oxford University history and later moved to the Harvard University to International Relations and Economics to study. After graduating, he looked for a job as an editor at the British daily newspaper The Guardian , where he worked for 25 years.

Several years ago, in Washington, DC , Walker joined the Global Business Policy Council , a think tank for AT Kearney management consultancy , where he is a Senior Fellow.

In addition to his journalistic work, Walker was able to publish several important works over the years about the Cold War , perestroika , but also about the USA . In 1999 he moved with his family to Périgord , inspired by its history and its residents, and in 2008 he wrote his first detective novel Bruno - Chef de police . His Bruno novels appeared in eleven languages ​​simultaneously. The historical novel Shadows on the Wall , published in 2012, also takes place in Périgord .

With his future thriller Germany 2064 , Walker's novel was on the shortlist for the 2015 German Business Book Prize.

In addition to English and French, Martin Walker also speaks German.

Bruno cycle

The "village policeman" - as he calls himself - Benoît Courrèges, commonly known as Bruno, is investigating the fictional small town of Saint-Denis in the historic Périgord region in southern France.
