Martin Wehrle (2012)

Martin Wehrle (born March 17, 1970 in Löffingen ) is a German journalist , career advisor and non-fiction author .

Life

Martin Wehrle is a trained journalist, attended the Academy for Journalism in Hamburg and was deputy editor-in-chief of Blinker , a magazine for anglers . During this time he also won the European championship in pike fishing . He later headed two departments in an MDAX group and began to look at the management culture of German companies.

At the beginning of the 2000s , Wehrle started his own career as a career consultant and published Secret Tricks for More Salary in 2003 . In it, he gives recommendations for academics, employees, workers and young professionals who want to be better paid for their work. In the following years he wrote other books on the topics of career and salary , for example The Secrets of the Bosses . In 2007, Martin Wehrle and Uwe Kamenz wrote Professor Untat , which was classified by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as a “universal attack” on the German university system. It sparked a debate about professors' outside employment . In 2011 “I work in an insane asylum” was published, which became one of the best-selling business books in Germany . The star rated it as the "ultimate comfort book for annoyed employees". In 2012 it was continued with the bestseller “I'm still working in a madhouse”.

According to Spiegel Online, Wehrle's books are based on the point of view of his customers and his own experience as a manager, which would be satirically exaggerated. Today he heads the career counselor academy in Hamburg and, according to his own statement, has implemented the first training course for career counselors in Germany. He has been a columnist for Die Zeit since 2010 , and in 2012 he wrote a cover story for Stern about the “Irrsinn Büro” .

Proceedings before the Federal Constitutional Court

In 1992, Martin Wehrle won a case before the Federal Constitutional Court . The Badische Zeitung had previously published one of his letters to the editor criticizing the deportation of an asylum-seeking family by the police. The authorities saw their honor injured in the statements, Wehrle was first convicted of insult by the Titisee-Neustadt District Court and later by the Freiburg Regional Court . The 3rd Chamber of the First Senate, however, unanimously overturned the decisions with reference to freedom of expression , which had not been sufficiently taken into account in the previous judgments.
