Marwan al-Shehhi

Marwan Yousef al-Shehhi ( Arabic مروان الشحي, DMG Marwān aš-Šiḥḥī , also Alshehhi or asch-Schihhi ; * May 9, 1978 in Ra's al-Khaimah , United Arab Emirates ; † 11. September 2001 in New York City ) was the suicide pilot who in the attacks of 11 September 2001 the United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower of the World Trade Center flew. At 23, al-Shehhi was the youngest of the four pilots in the attacks. Like all September 11th terrorists , he was a Salafist .

Time in Germany

After finishing school, al-Shehhi started attending a college in Bonn in 1996 . In 1999 he moved to Hamburg and began studying shipbuilding at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg . Al-Shehhi is said to have been involved in setting up a terrorist cell in Hamburg, along with Mohammed Atta and Ramzi Binalshibh . At the end of 1999 he traveled to Afghanistan with other later assassins . In March 2000, al-Shehhi returned to Germany.

USA stay

On May 29, 2000, al-Shehhi was the first from the “Hamburg Group” to enter the USA. From July to December 2000 he took flight lessons with Mohammed Atta at the Huffman Aviation Flight School in Venice , Florida ; on December 19, 2000, they passed their commercial pilot license exam .

Al-Shehhi bought tickets on August 28, 2001 at a United Airlines counter in one of Miami's four airports for $ 1,600 for UA Flight 175 on September 11th, which he paid for in cash. One of the tickets was valid for seat 6c.
