Maryline Monthieux (born in Martinique in the 20th century ) is a French film editor who has been responsible for editing more than 20 cinema productions in her 20-year career . These include films from modern European cinema such as The Sweet Art of Idleness , The Purple Rivers , Golden Door , Gainsbourg - The Man Who Loved Women or On the Trail of Marsupilami .

life and career

Maryline Monthieux, born in Martinique with African roots, began her career in the mid-1980s as an assistant editor on François Leterrier's romantic thriller The Bodyguard . This was followed by further assistant engagements for award-winning French cinema productions such as Patrice Lecontes The Engagement of Monsieur Hire or The Man of the Hairdresser as well as the Jean-Jacques Knieix drama IP5 - Island of the Pachyderms with Yves Montand .

At the beginning of the 1990s, Monthieux began to work as the chief editor in charge. In addition to a few short films, she has also worked on feature films such as Rémy Duchemin's comedy The Taste of Women , The Sweet Art of Idleness for director Nae Caranfil or Michel Blanc's drama Mauvaise passe .

In 2001 she was nominated for the César for the first time for Mathieu Kassovitz's thriller The Purple Rivers . She received further nominations for Jean-Paul Rappeneau's mystery film Bon voyage and the biography Gainsbourg - The Man Who Loved Women by director Joann Sfar . Maryline Monthieux received a nomination for the Italian David di Donatello Award for Emanuele Crialese's historical drama Golden Door .

In 2011 she was a member of the jury for the Cinamazonia Festival in French Guiana.

In 2012, the director Alain Chabat engaged her as a film editor for his adventure film On the Trail of Marsupilami with Jamel Debbouze in the lead role.
