Massimo Martino (born September 18, 1990 in Luxembourg ) is a former Luxembourg - Italian football player .
Career
The defender played from 2007 to 2009 for the first division team RFC Union Luxembourg in the national division , whose youth he also comes from.
For the 2009/10 season, the national player moved to league competitor Jeunesse Esch , with whom he did not stay long, however, as he signed a contract after a trial at Wuppertaler SV in their training camp in Bitburg . On the last day of the match he played against Dynamo Dresden for his only appearance in the third division . Before that he played 17 times for the second team in the Niederrheinliga .
In 2010 he returned to Luxembourg in the national division for FC RM Hamm Benfica , for whom he played until 2012. For the 2012/13 season he moved to F91 Dudelange . For the 2014/15 season he was awarded to CS Grevenmacher . He has been with CS Fola Esch since the 2015/2016 season . After missing the entire 2016/17 season due to an injury, he switched to the BGL Ligue relegated UN Käerjéng 97 in the summer of 2017 for an honorary doctorate . There he ended his active career in summer 2020.
National team
Martino made 17 appearances for the Luxembourg national team . He made his debut on May 27, 2008 in a friendly against Cape Verde . He made his competitive debut on October 14, 2009 in the World Cup qualifier against Greece when he came on for Kim Kintziger in the 80th minute . Martino was previously part of the U-21 team , as well as the U-17 and U-19 juniors in Luxembourg.
In 2006 he took part in the U-17 European Championship in his own country with Luxembourg and was used in all three preliminary round matches.
