On January 1, 2017, the commune of Massy was united with the neighboring communes of Donzy-le-National , La Vineuse and Vitry-lès-Cluny to form the Commune nouvelle La Vineuse sur Fregande. It belonged to the arrondissement of Mâcon and was part of the canton of Cluny .
