Masterplan is a German power metal band that was founded in 2002 by Uli Kusch and Roland Grapow .

history

Until autumn 2001 guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch were musicians in the German power metal band Helloween . In 2002 they founded the band Masterplan, which the bassist Jan S. Eckert ( Iron Savior ), the keyboardist Axel Mackenroth and the Norwegian singer Jørn Lande (Millennium, Ark , Company of Snakes, Beyond Twilight ) joined.

After they signed a record deal with AFM Records / Painful Lust with this line-up , the journalists' praised debut album Masterplan was released in 2003 . A tour with the Swedish power metal band Hammerfall followed . In 2004 the EP Back for My Life was released , in 2005 the second album Aeronautics , which again received positive reviews.

In May 2006, Jørn Lande separated from the band due to musical differences. The former riot singer Mike DiMeo was announced as his successor . In December 2006 Mike Terrana joined the band as the new drummer; he was previously committed to Rage and had temporarily played in Yngwie Malmsteen's band.

A single entitled Lost and Gone was released on January 26, 2007, followed by the Mk II album on February 23, 2007.

In December 2008 Mike DiMeo left the band and in April 2009 it was announced that Jørn Lande was returning as a singer.

On November 8th, 2012 a new line-up was announced on the website. Singer Rick Altzi ( Thunderstone , At Vance ), Jari Kainulainen (ex- Stratovarius , Evergrey ) on bass and drummer Martin Marthus Škaroupka ( Cradle of Filth ) now strengthen Masterplan.

On June 30, 2017, the album PumpKings was released, which consists exclusively of new recordings of Helloween songs from the Grapow era.
