Matthew Eric Reid (born January 15, 1984 in Long Beach ) is an American - German basketball player . He was under contract with the fourth division club Weser Baskets Bremen until November 2017 .

career

Reid is from Long Beach , California . He ended his university career in 2007. In his senior season 2006/07 he achieved averages of 20.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.3 basket assists and 2.2 ball wins for the Oklahoma- based Cameron University.

He started a career as a professional basketball player and moved to Germany, where he played for the regional league clubs Schwelm, Waltrop and Saarlouis until 2010. In doing so, he gained a reputation as a playmaker with strong finals, who also puts his teammates in the limelight. In 2009/10 he scored an average of 23.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 3.5 ball wins per use for Saarlouis.

Between 2010 and 2012 Reid played for SC Rasta Vechta in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . Especially in the 2010/11 season he triumphed in the Lower Saxony dress, averaging 20 points and 5.9 assists per game.

In the summer of 2012 he completed a trial training at SC Rist Wedel , but an obligation did not materialize, Reid then played in November and December 2012 for RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf (also ProB).

In the 2013/14 season, Reid was in the service of the Hertener Löwen  with a point average of 23.1 as in 2010/11, one of the ProB's best basket shooters. In 2014 he returned to Vechta, led Rasta's second men's team to the championship in the 2nd Regionalliga North-West and scored 28.2 points per game for Vechta's reserve. He also came on short assignments as a temporary worker in the Lower Saxony ProA team. In the meantime, Reid had taken on German citizenship and was part of Rasta's ProA line-up in the 2015/16 season. On the way to the runner-up and promotion to the Bundesliga, he was used in 28 games and scored an average of 2.9 points and 1.8 templates.

For the 2016/17 season, Reid was signed by the Quakenbrücker Artland Dragons from the ProB. After a year in Quakenbrück, he moved to Weser Baskets Bremen in the first Regionalliga Nord for the 2017/18 season . In November 2017, he left the Bremen-based company for professional reasons.
