Matt Ulery

Matthew Scott "Matt" Ulery (* in Chicago ) is an American jazz musician ( double bass , bass guitar , tuba , keyboard , harmonium , Celtic harp ), composer and band leader .

Ulery made his first appearances at the age of 14 and played in different musical genres from jazz, classical, rock, pop, gospel, theater music and folk. He earned a bachelor's degree in composition from the Chicago College of Performing at Roosevelt University and has worked since the early 2000s a. a. with Kurt Rosenwinkel , Tim Hagans , Fareed Haque , Maria Schneider , Howard Levy , Wynton Marsalis , Curtis Fuller , Carl Allen , Rob Clearfield and Patricia Barber . Since 2007 he has led the band Loom , for which he wrote his own compositions; He is also a member of the Eastern Blok , Grazyna Auguscik Group and Zach Brock's Arrival / Departure formation . In 2010 he presented the LP and download Flora.Fauna.Fervor ( 482 Music ). His main influences include Charles Mingus , Ray Brown , Jimmy Smith , Paul McCartney and Larry Grenadier .
