Jeremy Cunningham (drummer)

Jeremy Cunningham (* around 1985 ) is an American jazz musician ( drums , composition ). Peter Margasak ( Chicago Reader ) praised the “precision, sense of time and control” in his game.

Live and act

Originally from Cincinnati, Cunningham earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati , where he took lessons from John Von Ohlen . He then moved to Chicago and studied at DePaul University , where he had lessons with Dana Hall and graduated with a Masters. From the late 2000s he worked in the Chicago jazz scene; The first recordings were made in 2010 with trumpeter Wade Baker ( Profilin ' ). In the following years he played a. a. with Von Freeman , Chris Foreman , Jeff Parker , Mike Allemana , Marquis Hill ( New Gospel ), Caroline Davis and with Matt Ulery and Nick Mazzarella in the Meridian Trio . With his own quartet (composed of Josh Johnson, Jeff Parker, Matt Ulery) and two guest musicians (Dustin Laurenzi, Andrew Toombs), Cunningham released the album Re: Dawn (From Far) (Ears & Eyes Records) in 2016 , which received positive reviews.
