Matthias Asche

Matthias Asche (born May 16, 1969 in Hamburg ) is a German historian with a focus on the early modern period .

Life

Born as the son of a master hairdresser , Matthias Asche attended the Sankt-Ansgar-Schule in Hamburg and studied history, political science and German at the universities of Osnabrück , Vienna and Rostock from 1988 to 1993 after graduating from high school . From 1995 to 1997 he was a research assistant at the University of Tübingen . In 1997 he was there with the work from the rich Hanseatic citizen university to the poor Mecklenburg state university. The regional and social visitor profile of the universities of Rostock and Bützow in the early modern period (1500–1800) for Dr. phil. PhD . From 1997 to 2003 Asche was a research assistant , also at the University of Tübingen. In 2003 he was there with the font Neusiedler in the devastated land. Coping with the aftermath of the war, migration management and denominational politics in the context of the reconstruction of the country. The Mark Brandenburg qualified as a professor after the wars of the 17th century .

He then worked as a university lecturer at the University of Tübingen from 2003 to 2011 , interrupted by substitute professorships at the University of Jena in the winter semester 2005/06 and in the academic year 2007/08. In 2006 the University of Tübingen appointed him an extraordinary professor . Since 2011 he has been a temporary academic advisor .

In the 2015 summer semester and 2015/16 winter semester, Matthias Asche represented the chair for “Modern History of Culture” at the University of Potsdam . Since the winter semester 2016/17 he has held the professorship for “General History of the Early Modern Age” at the University of Potsdam.

Asche is a member of the Catholic student associations AV Widukind Osnabrück, AV Cheruskia Tübingen and K.Ö.St.V. Nibelungia Vienna.

Matthias Asche is married and has one son.

  • Prize of the History Faculty of the University of Tübingen for the book publication of his dissertation
  • 2006: Research Award of the University of Tübingen, donated by the Commerzbank Foundation (for the habilitation thesis)
