Matthias Koeckert

Matthias Köckert (born April 8, 1944 ) is a German Protestant theologian ( Old Testament scholar ).

Köckert first studied church music in Dresden (1962–65), which was followed by studies of Protestant theology in Leipzig and Greifswald (1965–70). He has been married to Heidelore Köckert since 1970 and they have three children. After his ordination in 1975 he taught at the Paulinum Theological Seminary in Berlin. In 1984 he became a lecturer in the Old Testament at the Sprachenkonvikt Berlin. After his habilitation in Jena in 1991, he became a professorfor the Old Testament at the Theological Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin . His daughter is the church historian Charlotte Köckert .
