Works
Toma was a genre , portrait , and above all a landscape painter during the Viennese Biedermeier period. He gained particular importance through his lithographic work, in which he used the new technology for depicting landscapes. In his later years, Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller's influence on him was decisive, as he created landscapes very similar to those of Waldmüller. He primarily sought the motifs for his pictures near Vienna and in the Danube floodplains.
