Matts Olof Andersson-Risberg (born August 13, 1975 ) is a former Swedish football player . The goalkeeper made two appearances in the Allsvenskan during his playing career .

Career

Andersson began playing football at Väsby IK , which he joined in 1981. At the club from Upplands Väsby, the goalkeeper went through the individual youth teams and qualified for regional selections through his performances. Tommy Söderberg discovered him at a game of the Stockholm selection against a selection team from Skåne and signed him in early 1993 after a two-week trial for AIK . Initially still a junior player, he developed into a junior national player.

In 1994, Andersson made his debut in the men's AIK team. In a game in the context of the Intertoto Cup in 1994 against the Swiss representative FC Lausanne-Sport , he replaced the regular goalkeeper Magnus Hedman , who was at the World Cup tournament in the United States , and stood for the first time between the posts. He then moved back into the second tier, but made his debut in the top Swedish division at the end of the 1994 season . On the last day of the game Hedman bent over in the game against Halmstads BK shortly before the end of the game and as a substitute Andersson came to his first two minutes in the Allsvenskan. In the following season he was initially again second goalkeeper behind Hedman. However, this slipped into a form low over the course of the season. Coach Hans Backe held on to him for a long time, especially since Andersson was struggling with back problems. On August 3, he finally decided to swap goalkeepers. Again against Halmstads BK Andersson was in the starting lineup for the first time in the Allsvenskan. With goals from his teammates Mattias Johansson and Patrick Englund , he drew 2-2 on the side of Johan Mjällby , Fredrik Espmark and Gary Sundgren , with back pain plagued him in the second half. Then Hedman returned from the following day of the game back in the gate.

In the following years Hedman developed into one of the best goalkeepers in Sweden and moved up to the Swedish national team . After Andersson could not prevail against the newly signed Anders Almgren even after Hedman's departure in the summer of 1997 , he left the club at the end of 1997. In the following two years, he let his career fade away at the lower-class clubs Värtans IK and Spårvägens FF . Later he began to study engineering .
