Matzikama is a municipality in the West Coast District , Western Cape Province in South Africa . In 2011 the population was 67,147 on a total area of 5,539 km². The seat of the municipal administration is Vredendal . Mayor is Rhenda Stephan.
Matzikama is a Khoisan term, matzi means "he gives" and kama means "water". The Khoisan lived in the water-giving mountains.
