Maurice Müller (born March 6, 1983 in Kassel ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and member of the Bremen Parliament .

biography

education and profession

Müller grew up in Kassel and passed his Abitur there. He completed his community service in a school for the disabled with individual care for a disabled child. Müller studied at the political science faculty of the University of Erfurt and completed his Bachelor of Arts there in 2006 . Müller completed a master's degree in political communication at Bielefeld University and Sciences Po in Paris . The focus of the course in Bielefeld is the analysis of political and other social communication systems based on Niklas Luhmann's system theory. As part of the university qualification program Europe Intensive , Müller completed an internship at the representation of the State of Hesse at the European Union in Brussels . Müller studied "Affaires Européennes" at Sciences Po Paris with a focus on European law, European economic policy and PR. He also completed a communication project for the Commerzbank foundations in Frankfurt am Main as part of the Campus of Excellence .

Since 2011 he has been employed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems in Bremerhaven as a quality and communication manager.

Müller studied digital media production from 2013 to 2014 at the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences .

Müller is married and lives in the Geestemünde district of Bremerhaven.

Müller was a member and later a member of the Green Youth in Kassel since 2009 and became a member of Bündnis90 / Die Grünen . In 2012 he moved to the Bremerhaven district association and has been a member of the district board since 2013.

City council in Bremerhaven

In 2014 he was elected to the city council for the environment and thus to the magistrate of the seaside city of Bremerhaven. In this role, Müller opened a climate city office and supported the establishment of the first youth climate council in Bremerhaven. In September 2014 Bremerhaven became a Fairtrade City under the leadership of the Environmental Protection Agency together with Bremen . Together with the Youth Climate Council, Müller opened the first Repair Café in Bremerhaven in December 2014 .

After the 2015 elections in Bremen, he became a horticultural councilor . As part of its department management, the Horticultural Office renovated the Geestemünde wooden harbor and upgraded the green area around the wooden harbor. The Horticultural Department also created more wildflower meadows and flower strips as part of the "Stadtgrün naturnah" competition and, together with the Education Authority, reintroduced the school gardens in Bremerhaven schools through a joint competition.

Müller was city councilor for horticulture until 2019.

Candidate for the German Bundestag

In November 2016, Müller was elected by the Bremer Greens for the 2017 federal election both as a direct candidate in constituency 55 Bremen II Bremerhaven and in second place on the state list of the Greens behind Kirsten Kappert-Gonther .

Bremen citizenship

In May 2019, Müller was elected to the Bremen parliament. He is the spokesman for the Green Group on innovation and technology and spokesman for ports , fisheries and shipping .

Müller is chairman of the committee for port matters in the state of Bremen as well as a member of the deputation for work and economy, the committee for science, media, data protection and freedom of information, the controlling committee and the petitions committee.

In 2020, Müller became a member of the citizenship's first study commission to develop a climate protection strategy for the state of Bremen.
