Maurice Marko Pluskota (born May 30, 1992 in Bremerhaven ) is a German basketball player . He has been under contract with PS Karlsruhe since summer 2017 .

Pluskota began his career in the junior teams of the first division club Eisbären from his hometown, for which he also made his debut in the top national men's basketball division . After playing for two years with a double license for the second division club Cuxhaven BasCats in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA , he moved to Braunschweig in 2013, where he is increasingly used in the first division team of the Lions in addition to the reserve team in the third-highest division ProB . The former youth national player completed international matches for the German A2 national team.

Career

Pluskota had his first appearances in the youth basketball league (NBBL) for the junior team of the polar bears at the end of the 2008/09 season. A year later he was able to recommend himself for the final squad of the German U18 youth national team, with which, however, he only finished 13th and fourth from last place at the U18 European Championship finals in 2010 with small individual game shares. After the Junior Eisbären were eliminated in the quarter-finals in 2010 against former NBBL runner-up Paderborn Baskets , they failed in the second round in 2011 against former runner-up Alba Berlin .

In the 2010-11 Basketball Bundesliga debut Pluskota in the German top flight for the men's team of polar bears and had next four brief appearances in the regular season and a short stint in the quarterfinal play-offs for the German championship against defending champions Brose Baskets , which one was lost in three games. However, this should be the last play-off participation of the polar bears for a long time. Pluskota himself came in the following first division season only to a short assignment in the top division and otherwise played with a double license in ten assignments for the second division BasCats from Cuxhaven in the ProA . After a 13th place in 2012, the BasCats returned to the ProA 2012/13 play-offs for promotion, in which the team was eliminated in the first round. Pluskota was no longer part of the first division squad of the polar bears in the 2012/13 season and had concentrated on his assignments with the second division, where he was used in almost all games with just under 20 minutes playing time and achieved his final breakthrough in a higher-class men's team.

For the 2013/14 basketball Bundesliga , Pluskota was signed by the first division club from Braunschweig , then trading under the name of New York Phantoms , a league competitor from Bremerhaven in Lower Saxony . Under the new coach Raoul Korner , Pluskota now also got regular playing times in the top division of almost ten minutes per game in Braunschweig. Nevertheless, by means of a double license, he was also a top performer of the third division reserve Spot Up Medien, for which he narrowly missed a double-double in the ProB 2013/14 with just under 17 points and nine rebounds per game . As with the BasCats in the ProA, Pluskota was eliminated with the Braunschweiger Reserve in the ProB play-offs in the first round, while the Phantoms again missed the play-offs, but managed to stay up. After Pluskota returned to the group of national selection players with an appointment to the A2 national team in 2014, he will be used in the 2014/15 basketball Bundesliga, primarily in the top German division with the team now trading as Basketball Löwen .

Before the 2015/2016 season, Pluskota moved to the BBL returnees Gießen 46ers , but he was out the entire season due to a fatigue fracture in his right lower leg. He made his competitive debut for Giessen at the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

At the beginning of August 2017, second division promoted PS Karlsruhe announced Pluskota's commitment. With Karlsruhe he made it into the semi-finals of the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in the 2017/18 season, Pluskota was used in 33 games during the season and achieved an average of 13.3 points and an internal team maximum of 6.6 rebounds per match. He had to undergo shin surgery in February 2019 and was out until the end of the 2018/19 season. In the 2019/2020 season, Pluskota was used in 25 games and achieved an internal team high of 13.5 points on average and the league high of 7.9 rebounds per game. The season ended prematurely because of the corona virus.
