Maurice Woollcombe

Maurice Woollcombe CB , DL , ( April 18, 1868 - December 19, 1930 ) was a British Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy .

Life

Woollcombe completed an officer training with the Royal Navy after school and received on July 16, 1889 his promotion to first lieutenant at sea ( sub-lieutenant ). On June 30, 1901, he was promoted to frigate captain ( commander ). and on June 30, 1907 to the captain at sea ( Captain ). For his services during the Battle of the Skagerrak he became Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) with effect from May 31, 1916 . In addition, he was awarded the Russian Order of Saint Anne, Second Class with Swords, for his service in the Grand Fleet during the Battle of the Skagerrak on June 5, 1917 .

With the promotion of Captain Edward Montgomery Phillpotts to Rear Admiral, he was on 15 January 1918 his successor as naval aide-de-camp of King George V on October 2, 1918 carried out his own promotion to Rear Admiral ( Rear Admiral ). Later he also became Vice Admiral ( Vice Admiral promoted). He lived in Beechwood and was on 14 June 1926 Deputy Lieutenant (DL) of the County of Devon appointed.
