Maurizio Fioravanti

Maurizio Fioravanti (born December 3, 1956 in Poggio Mirteto , Latium ) is a general in the Italian army .

Military career

Fioravanti was trained from 1976 to 1980 at the military academy in Modena and Turin and then completed training as a paratrooper at the airborne school in Pisa . Until 1987 he served as platoon leader and company commander in the 2nd Tarquinia Battalion of the Folgore Paratrooper Brigade in Livorno . As a result of the Lebanon War of 1982 , he completed his first ten-month assignment abroad with his train. From 1987 to 1989 Fioravanti was adjutant to the commander of the Allied Mobile Force (Land) in Heidelberg ; in addition, he completed a winter combat course in Canada during this time . From 1989 to 1991 he served on the staff of the Folgore Brigade in Livorno. This was followed by general staff training at the Scuola di Guerra in Civitavecchia until 1993 , with which he remained until 1995.

From 1995 to 1997 Fioravanti commanded the 5th Paratrooper Battalion El Alamein of the Folgore Brigade , stationed in Siena , and then the Brigade's staff until 2000. In 1999 he was also chief of staff in a multinational brigade in Sarajevo . As a colonel , he commanded the 186th Paratrooper Regiment in Siena, which had emerged from the 5th Battalion. Until 2003 he headed the air landing school in Pisa, after which he served on the staff of the Land Forces Command in Verona until 2006 . As brigadier general , he commanded the Folgore paratrooper brigade from 2006 to 2008 . During this time he returned as Joint Task Force Commander in Lebanon back to where because of the 2006 war the local UNIFIL troupe had to be reinforced. At the end of September 2008, Fioravanti became deputy head of department (G3) in the Army General Staff in Rome. From October 10, 2011 to November 3, 2014 he commanded the special forces task force in Rome-Centocelle .

Fioravanti is married and has two children.
