Mauro Maria Morfino SDB (born March 23, 1958 in Arborea ) is a religious priest and Roman Catholic bishop .

Life

He attended the Scuole dell'Ordine and the Conservatorio di Musica PL da Palestrina in Cagliari . On September 12, 1975, he made his first temporary and on September 25, 1983, perpetual profession as the Salesian of Don Bosco . From 1977 to 1980 and from 1981 to 1982 he worked as a music teacher and from 1977 to 1980 he directed the polyphony “S. Cecilia ”.

After completing his philosophical studies with the diploma (1982) and the theological studies with the baccalauréat (1986) at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Sardinia, he became a deacon on June 29, 1985 and on July 19, 1986 in Arborea by Bishop Giovanni Pes for ordained priests .

He then continued his academic training in Jerusalem and completed it in 1988 at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem with a licentiate and in 1992 there with a doctorate in biblical studies .

In October 1992 he began teaching Biblical Exegesis at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Sardinia, where he was also the director of the Biblical Seminary. From November 1998 he was Vice President of the Faculty.

From 1993 he was a member of the editorial board and, since 2001, chief editor of the faculty's academic journal, Theologica & Historica . From 2001 he was also a member of the scientific committee of the Rivista Orientamenti Sociali Sardi .

On January 31, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Alghero-Bosa . The episcopal ordination took place on April 3, 2011 in Alghero by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Sassari , Paolo Mario Virgilio Atzei , and the Apostolic Nuncio Claudio Gugerotti .
