Max Bayrhammer

Max Emanuel Bayrhammer (born May 26, 1867 at Baumgarten Castle in the Rottal-Inn district , † April 15, 1942 in Munich ) was a German actor .

Live and act

The son of the estate manager Adolph Bayrhammer and his wife Henriette Schilcher (Baumgarten Castle) decided to become an actor at the age of 18 and took lessons from the then 67-year-old royal court actor Heinrich Richter , a native of Berlin. In the following year (1888) Bayrhammer made its debut in Hanau . Up until the outbreak of World War I, there were commitments to the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, the German Private Theater in St. Petersburg , the Weimar Court Theater , the City Theater in Breslau , the Volkstheater Vienna and (from 1901) several years at theSchauspielhaus Frankfurt , where he worked under leading directors such as Woldemar Runge, Karlheinz Martin and Fritz Odemar sr. occurred. At this time, Max Bayrhammer was also a lecturer at the Raff Conservatory (Frankfurt a. M.).

At the age of 25, when he was engaged in Breslau, Bayrhammer was given central tasks. His repertoire included numerous classical leading roles, mostly heavyweight characters and heroic roles. So he played u. a. the Shylock , the Jago (from Othello ), the worm (from Schiller's Intrigue and Love ), the Cyrano de Bergerac , the Mephisto, the King Lear , the Oswald (from Ibsen's Ghosts ), the Franz Moor (from Schiller's The Robbers ) Carlos (from Goethe's Clavigo ) and Narcissus (from Hesse's Narcissus and Goldmund ). Immediately after the turn of the century, Max Bayrhammer is said to have played almost 200 roles. Bayrhammer had also made a name for himself as a reciter.

The theater artist rarely appeared in front of the camera. Bayrhammer stood on the stage until just before his death; most recently he worked for the Bavarian State Theater under the direction of Alexander Golling .

Bayrhammer also worked as a playwright. His works include the humorous experiences of a wandering mime (1902) and the Schwank Die sturmfrei Bude (1908).

Bayrhammer's wife Elfriede (Elly) was also an actress, his son the actor Gustl Bayrhammer .
