Max Eastley

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Max Eastley (born December 1, 1944 in Torquay ) is a British sculptor and improvisation musician ( percussion , guitar , newly developed instruments) who combines kinetic objects with sounds in his sound installations .

Eastley first studied painting and graphics at Newton Abbot Art School, then in 1972 he completed his art studies with a bachelor's degree from Middlesex University . His works include compositions for films, dance pieces and performances, in which the artist also worked with David Toop , Brian Eno , Peter Cusack and Peter Greenaway .

Eastley creates sound sculptures from seemingly simple materials: In Germany, for example, he realized four outdoor installations made from Aeolian harps , in which the wind creates sounds; he also made sounds through ice or water power. In the interior, he produced sounds through electrically powered kinetic installations. In 2017 Eastley was a guest of the DAAD artist program in Berlin.
