Max Freiherr Riederer von Paar zu Schönau (born September 2, 1897 in Vienna , † January 4, 1964 in Schönau ) was a German lawyer , landowner and politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

Max Riederer von Paar came from the old Bavarian noble family Riederer von Paar and was born as the son of the estate owner Eduard Riederer von Paar zu Schönau . After graduating from the Theresiengymnasium in Munich in 1915 , he studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He interrupted his studies in 1916, then took part in the First World War as a soldier until 1918 and was last made a lieutenant. In 1919 he was a volunteer with the Epp Freikorps , which participated in the suppression of the Munich Soviet Republic .

After his discharge from the Reichswehr , Riederer von Paar continued his studies, which he completed in 1920 with the first state examination and in 1923 with the second state examination. He then worked as a lawyer in Munich. In March 1933 he took up a position as a clerk for corporate and tax law issues at Victoria Insurance in Berlin and in this function was a member of the tax advisory board of the Reich Ministry of Finance and the tax committee of the central tax office in Berlin. From 1939 to 1944 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . After the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944, he was dismissed from the Wehrmacht with the rank of major because there was a family relationship between his wife and Colonel Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg .

From 1944, Riederer von Paar managed the family estate in Schönau above Eggenfelden . In 1952 he became a member of the tax committee and the cultural policy committee of the Bavarian Farmers' Association (BBV). He was also a member of the board of the Association of Bavarian Landowners.

Riederer von Paar was one of the founders of the CSU in 1945 . In 1952 he was elected chairman of the CSU district association Eggenfelden. Riederer von Paar was mayor of the community of Schönau from 1945 to 1948 . From 1948 to 1952 he was the district administrator of the Pfarrkirchen district . Riederer von Paar was from 1946 to 1948 a member of the district council of the Eggenfelden district and from July to November 1946 a member of the Bavarian Consultative State Assembly .

He belonged to the German Bundestag in the second electoral term from 1953 to 1957, where he represented the constituency of parish churches . He was a full member of the Committee on Election Review and Immunity and the Committee on All-German and Berlin Issues. Since March 1956 he was a full member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and since January 1957 of the Committee for the Protection of the Constitution.
