Maximilian Zimmer (born July 10, 1992 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player . He was most recently under contract with Energie Cottbus .

Career

Maximilian Zimmer began his career at FSV Berolina in Stralau . From there he moved to Hertha BSC's youth team in 2004 , where he played through the youth teams and later played in both the B and A junior Bundesliga . From the 2011/12 season, Zimmer sporadically played in Hertha’s second team in the North Regional Football League . In 2013 he moved to league competitor SV Babelsberg 03 on a free transfer .

Zimmer first played for Babelsberg on August 3, 2013 in a 1-0 win against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , and scored his first goal on March 16, 2014 in a 2-1 win against Germania Halberstadt . During the season, Zimmer came to 28 missions in which he scored two goals. In the following season Zimmer scored nine goals in 30 league games and prepared five more, he was also in the semifinals of the Brandenburg State Cup against Energie Cottbus , but this game was lost 2-0. In the following season Zimmer played in Babelsberg until the winter break before he moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in Rhineland-Palatinate . In Kaiserslautern Zimmer was only used for the second team in the Regionalliga Südwest . He made his league debut on December 7, 2015 against FK Pirmasens when he came on in the 78th minute. After only six months, Zimmer returned to the Berlin-Brandenburg region, this time for the Berlin AK 07 , again in the Regionalliga Nordost . There he completed 32 games in the first season and scored nine goals.

In 2017 Maximilian Zimmer moved again to the former league competitor Energie Cottbus for free . In the first half of the 2017/18 season he played 17 of a possible 18 games and scored five goals, but he missed the start of the second half due to a hamstring . In total, Zimmer played 28 league games. On May 21, 2018, Cottbus won the Brandenburg Cup against Babelsberg, but Zimmer was not in the squad in the final. In the regional league Cottbus reached first place, with a 3-2 win in the first leg and a 0-0 in the second leg against Weiche Flensburg , Cottbus rose to the 3rd soccer league . Zimmer scored two goals in the first leg.

On July 29, 2018 Maximilian Zimmer made his professional debut in the 3rd division in a 3-0 win against FC Hansa Rostock . Again and again thrown back from injuries, Zimmer tore his cruciate ligament for the third time in January 2019. His contract, which expired in Cottbus, was not extended in the summer of 2019; Due to the ongoing injury, Zimmer ended his active career at the age of 27 in September 2019.
