Meanwhile ( English for: "meanwhile") is the debut album released on June 12, 1990 by the Hanoverian band Celebrate the Nun , from which Scooter emerged in 1993 .
About the album
Meanwhile is the first album by a then still young electro pop band, which was launched in Hanover at the end of 1986. The singer's sister, Britt Maxime, who followed her brother to Hanover to study English and politics in 1986, and Slin Tompson, whom she had met in a discotheque, completed the band, which was now working on their songs together. The debut single, Ordinary Town , released in 1988 , brought the band appearances on the TV shows “Spielbude” ( ARD ) and “ Musikladen Eurotops ”. "The creative band's first single was just as surprisingly good as their outfit," said EMI press information .
The musicians were signed to their music label , Westside Music, and sent to the recording studio in Frankfurt am Main to record an album . In the summer of 1989 all studio work was done, so that the long player could be released the following year .
Meanwhile contained twelve danceable, synthetic songs, of which apart from Ordinary Town , which formed the track No. 1, She's a Secretary and Will You Be There were released as singles. The last song came in at fifth place on the charts of the American magazine Billboard and She's a Secretary there at 12th place, which led to Meanwhile being published by the American Enigma label. There was also a video production for each single.
Due to musical differences, Slin Tompson left the band after the release of Meanwhile and devoted himself to solo projects.
Westside Music went bankrupt in 1991, so the band eventually broke up.
Meanwhile was remastered for the MP3 format in 2004 and has since been reissued several times. The last two songs are CD bonus tracks.
