history

Beginnings in sport and business

In 1993 Harald Zulauf founded Media Consulta in Cologne. Zulauf previously worked as a journalist and PR consultant. "Media Consulta Deutschland GmbH" was entered in the commercial register on September 17th of that year . Since sport became more and more important for the advertising economy, sports marketing developed into the focus of Media Consulta. For example, the company took on the communication of major tennis tournaments, including the ATP World Tour . Formula 1 was another field of work . Media Consulta received more attention for its work in football: for example, on the occasion of the 1996 European Football Championship in England, a timer was published with a record circulation of 300,000. The electrical appliance manufacturer Braun was positioned around the 1998 soccer world championship .

Political orders

By the end of the 1990s, Media Consulta had become one of the leading German communication service providers in terms of sales. In 1998, Media Consulta's first political client came with the German Bundestag . The mandate of the parliament also included the official magazine “ Blickpunkt Bundestag ”. In 1999 Media Consulta received a multi-million dollar contract from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations to improve the country's image in Germany. The political communication moved increasingly into the focus of the agency, as well as public relations for large international companies and the national associations of the economy. With the move of the German Bundestag from Bonn to Berlin, Media Consulta opened a location in the capital. The company settled in a listed former shoe factory at Köllnischer Park in Berlin-Mitte . Media Consulta also expanded its Cologne location.

internationalization

After the turn of the millennium, “Media Consulta” became the “mc Group”. The company expanded into other member states of the European Union . Thereupon, for example, the General Directorate for Press and Communication awarded its budget to the mc Group. In the years that followed, a network of specialized agencies was built up, for example for classic advertising or film and television production. In 2005, the first offices outside of Europe were opened in New York City and Moscow. Later branches in Brazil, China and India followed. In order to take internationalization into account, "Media Consulta International Holding AG" was founded in 2006. It acts as the parent company of the group of companies. The mc Group also won other well-known customers in its home market, for example the Federal President's Office and the discounter Lidl .

Market leadership

Internationally, the MC Group has been one of the leading service providers in the field of public relations since 2008 at the latest. In Germany, the company was the second largest German communications agency after Ketchum Pleon for several years . In 2011 the MC Group overtook the competition for the first time. The largest budgets in recent years include communication for the German year 2013/2014 in Brazil and the international campaign “Make it in Germany” by the Federal Ministries for Economics and Labor . The MC Group also worked for Berlin Brandenburg Airport .
