Jellyfish - Carried by the Sea (French original title: Les méduses , Hebrew original title: מדוזות , Meduzot ) is an Israeli - French film drama from 2007 by Shira Geffen and Etgar Keret . The episode film tells the story of three women whose paths keep crossing.

Amir leaves his girlfriend Batya, who from then on has to live alone as a waitress and in her run-down apartment. She didn't need it, because both her father is wealthy and her mother, who is a respected prominent high society lady . Both like to take care of other people, but unfortunately not their own daughter, which is why Batya trusts no one except herself, until one day she finds a little speechless girl in the sea who is walking around with a swim ring. After the police can't do anything with her, she takes the girl in and takes care of her. However, after Batya briefly yelled at her that she had to behave, she suddenly disappears without a trace. Worried, she tries desperately to find the girl and at some point is hit by a car on the street. While she is passed out, she is visited by her parents and remembers how once, as a girl, she was allowed to play with a swim ring in the sea so that her parents could fight. Ultimately, she escapes from the hospital, spends a quiet day with her former work colleague on the beach and yet discovers the little girl who runs wildly into the sea and plunges into the waves. But instead of saving her, the girl lets go of her, disappears, and Batya is happily washed back on the beach.

Everything seems to be going well at Michael and Keren's wedding. But one mishap follows the next. First Keren accidentally locks herself in the toilet, then breaks her ankle while escaping and then the honeymoon to the Caribbean has to be canceled, so that the young couple has to stay in a lousy hotel near the beach. And there, Keren is first bothered by the sewer smell, then the lack of view and then the traffic noise, so that Michael spends more and more time outside the hotel room and meets a beautiful woman who he considers a writer. Since he gets on better and better with the writer and worse with his wife, the writer suggests that we swap rooms so that Keren has nothing to complain about. But Keren becomes jealous and believes that the writer was sleeping with her Michael, so she complains again and Michael flees. But the writer was not in the suite to write a book, but to find the right words for her suicide . And she found these words only after changing rooms in a little poem by Keren, which she wrote after an argument with Michael, so that Keren and Michael are too late to prevent them from committing suicide.

Joy is a Filipino childminder who mainly wants to look after babies as she doesn't speak Hebrew and can only communicate in English. Instead, it is used to care for retirees who are experiencing the first symptoms of Alzheimer's . Although she cannot converse with anyone, she works diligently. After the first pensioner dies, the actress Galia hires her to look after her mother Malka. But Malka is a resolute old lady who does not speak English and constantly demands to only speak in Hebrew or German, to which Joy always only answers with a What? can answer. While Malka wants to get rid of her immediately, Joy continues to work to buy her little dream, a toy ship for her son, who still lives in the Philippines. But one day the ship disappeared and Joy is deeply sad - until she discovers that it was Malka who wanted to surprise her with it and takes Joy into her arms and heart.

Although Shira Geffen is featured as a director, she was barely there when she was shooting because she was heavily pregnant and gave birth to her child during post-production editing.

The actress, Joy, who is not an actress but also a real-life caregiver for Alzheimer's patients, was discovered in a theater in the Philippine community. She could not take herself seriously as a fictional, which is why she was able to master all scenes, but repeatedly failed to call herself Joy, which meant that a scene had to be repeated up to twelve times.

While the directors Keret and Geffen were already dating, Keret's ex-girlfriend began suicide. This story, as well as the theme of the second generation that all children have their parents' problems within them, were processed in the script.
