action

After the 42-year-old France, a single mother of three children, her job in the local factory in Dunkirk lost, they tried taking pills suicide to commit. After a short time, she is released from the hospital and tries to make ends meet with her 2750 euros compensation. She doesn't make it as a childminder and so she takes advantage of the offer of Ahmed to train her as a cleaning worker for Paris . She quickly finds work with the stockbroker Stephane Delaure, known as Steve. An aspiring financial markets expert, he recently came from London to set up a field office for hedge funds in Paris. But he now lives in a penthouse, which France takes care of. When he's not working, he travels to Venice with the beautiful model Tess , where he wants to impress her with all his money in order to sleep with her. When she surrenders to him after the initial adornment, however, he loses interest in her.

Meanwhile, France enjoys the easy journey home to see her children and the little time she is allowed to spend with them. She doesn't make a lot of money, but at least she has a job. On the 4th of the month, Steve's ex-wife suddenly appears, who delivers their son, little Alban, to him and says that he should now look after him for a month. Steve himself is stuck at work and asks France to take care of him. He will also compensate them accordingly for the extra effort. You should name the price yourself. But since she has no idea what such a nanny earns extra per day, she estimates between 4 and 45 euros, although she is almost shocked when she receives an extra 100 euros. She agrees and from now on spends less time with the family and has to sort out all the problems that cause her children over the phone. With the almost permanent presence, France is also introduced into Steve's life. She experiences a party full of rich people that has only one purpose, namely to make Steve even richer. She also discovers the beautiful Mélody, a woman with whom Steve becomes weak. He regrets the ten years in London as much as he misses those five months with her. She was something very special.

France travels to London with Alban and Steve, where, as a Russian, she mimes Steve's evening company at a dinner. In the evening they both get close, kiss and sleep together. The rude awakening comes the next morning when Steve laughingly reports that he has closed the factory in Dunkirk and how small the world is. France says nothing about this and only a few moments later has to overhear a phone call in which Steve, drunk on victory, redeems the bet he won to sleep with his cleaner for 1000 euros. France goes for a walk with little Alban in shock. For a moment Alban disappears from her field of view and she panics looking for him. When she finds him, she decides to kidnap him to Dunkirk, where Steve can pick him up without any demands. Steve worried and informed the police and drove to Dunkirk. France is arrested during her daughter's dance show, while Steve is able to hug Alban again. All present learn that Steve had their factory closed so that they prevent the police car from being transported from France and follow Steve into the night.

Reviews

“Comedy that tries to explain the functioning of modern capitalism from both perspectives, but sometimes gets lost in clichés and draws the capitalist on the edge of caricature. A modern variant of the Cinderella fairy tale without a conciliatory end. "

“Cédric Klapisch [...] has always shown a feeling for completely normal people. Here, however, he has shifted a bit. While the main characters are excellent, the story has too many unbelievable twists and turns and occasionally ripples towards the unsatisfactory, open ending. The comedic moments have it all, unfortunately the melodramatic ones are not. What remains: an unsatisfactory mixture with many strong moments. "
