Melanie Maurer (born June 17, 1988 in Wikon ) is a Swiss duathlete . She is Swiss champion (2017), two-time vice-European champion in the Duathlon middle distance (2018, 2019) and Vice-World Champion in Duathlon long distance (2018).

Career

Melanie Maurer was active as a handball player on TV Zofingen until she switched to endurance sports in 2011.

In May 2017 she became Swiss Duathlon Champion and in September she won the 10-kilometer run in Basel.

In May 2018, the then 29-year-old from Bern was second in the Duathlon middle distance (10 km running, 60 km cycling and 10 km running) in Denmark and thus vice-European champion. At Powerman Zofingen , Melanie Maurer was ITU Vice World Champion on the long distance duathlon in September. Four weeks later she won her first triathlon in the middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) in Italy with the Elbaman Triathlon .

Melanie Maurer starts in the A-team Swiss Triathlon , is trained by Manuel Kläusli (Faun Sports) and lives in Bern .
